Quick-start with common scenarios
Open Face Chinese Poker is a poker variant where players arrange 13 cards into three hands (top-3, middle-5, bottom-5). Hands must be properly ordered: top weakest, bottom strongest.
Scoring Components: 1) Royalties for strong hands in each row, 2) +1/-1 for each row won/lost vs opponent, 3) +3 scoop bonus for winning all 3 rows.
Fantasyland: Making QQ or better on top (without fouling) puts you in Fantasyland, where you see all 13 cards at once. Stay in FL with quads on bottom or trips on top.
Key Strategy: Never foul - it costs you everything. Fantasyland is worth chasing. Royalties are huge - a single hand with 20+ royalties can make your session.
A foul (or "mis-set") occurs when your hands aren't properly ordered: top must be weakest, middle must beat top, bottom must beat middle. If you foul, you lose to all opponents regardless of their hands. Always check your hand strength order!
Fantasyland is a bonus round entered by making QQ or better on top without fouling. In Fantasyland, you see all 13 cards at once (like regular Chinese Poker). To stay in Fantasyland, you need quads on bottom or trips on top.
Each row is compared separately (+1 for winning, -1 for losing). Plus royalties for strong hands. If you win all 3 rows, you get a scoop bonus of +3. At $1/point with 2 opponents, a 20-point hand wins $40.
QQ on top is minimum for FL entry. KK or AA is better (harder to foul). Once in FL, maximize royalties while staying in FL (quads bottom or trips top).
Priority: 1) Don't foul, 2) Make Fantasyland if possible, 3) Maximize royalties, 4) Win rows. A fouled hand with huge royalties still loses everything.
