Explore how changes affect your results
Based on your results
You're in your first trimester at 12 weeks. Rest when needed and take prenatal vitamins. Morning sickness is common during this time.
Reflexes develop, fingernails forming
Focus on folate-rich foods, stay hydrated, and eat small frequent meals if nauseous.
Pregnancy lasts 40 weeks from last menstrual period (LMP). Due date = LMP + 280 days. First trimester: weeks 1-12. Second: weeks 13-27. Third: weeks 28-40. Our calculator tracks all milestones.
The due date is calculated using Naegele's rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). This assumes a 28-day cycle and ovulation on day 14. Only 5% of babies arrive on their exact due date.
First trimester (weeks 1-12): Major organs form, highest miscarriage risk. Second trimester (weeks 13-26): Baby grows, movement felt, generally easiest trimester. Third trimester (weeks 27-40): Rapid growth, preparation for birth.
Weight gain depends on pre-pregnancy BMI. Underweight: 28-40 lbs. Normal weight: 25-35 lbs. Overweight: 15-25 lbs. Obese: 11-20 lbs. Most weight gain occurs in the second and third trimesters.
First-time mothers typically feel movement (quickening) between 18-25 weeks. Experienced mothers may feel it as early as 13-16 weeks. Early movements feel like flutters or bubbles. By week 28, you should feel regular movement daily.
Common tests include: blood type/Rh factor, glucose screening (gestational diabetes), Group B strep, genetic screening (NIPT, quad screen), anatomy ultrasound (18-22 weeks). Your provider will recommend tests based on your health and preferences.
