Love Calculator
Enter two names for a deterministic, just-for-fun compatibility score with a friendship, communication, and humor breakdown — same names, same number, every time.
Quick Answer
The love calculator at practicalwebtools.com/other/love-calculator turns two names into a 0-100 compatibility score plus friendship, communication, and humor percentages. It is just for fun: the number comes from a deterministic letter-pair hash, so the same names always get the same result on every device. Results come with a shareable link that prefills both names, and everything runs in this browser tab.
How It Works
1
Type the two first names into the fields
2
Pick "Calculate compatibility" for the 0-100 score and verdict
3
Read the friendship, communication, and humor breakdown bars
4
Copy the result text or the share link — the link reopens with the same score
Key Facts

- Order does not matter — Alice and Bob score exactly what Bob and Alice score
- Shareable URL carries both names, so the link opens with the result ready
- Copyable plain-text result for messages and posts
- Just for fun — the number is a hash of the letters, not a prediction
- Runs entirely in this browser tab
Frequently Asked Questions
How does this love calculator work?
It hashes the letters of both names together with a small, fixed algorithm (a 32-bit FNV-1a hash, salted separately for the total and each breakdown) and maps the result to 0-100. There is no psychology, astrology, or data set behind it — I built it as a deterministic name game, and it behaves like one.
Do the same names always get the same score?
Yes. The score is computed from a fixed hash of the two names, not a random draw — just for fun, but the same names always get the same number, today and on every device. Swapping the order also changes nothing, because the pair is sorted before hashing.
What do the friendship, communication, and humor percentages mean?
Nothing measurable. Each breakdown bar is its own salted hash of the same name pair, shown because a single number is boring. They are decorative, deterministic, and honest about being so — treat the whole result as a party game.
Can I share my result?
Yes. Calculating puts both names into the page URL, so you can copy the address bar, use the Copy link button, or grab the plain-text result ("Alice + Bob = 73%") for a message. Anyone opening the link sees the same two names and the identical score.
Are the names I type stored or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in this browser tab — you can watch the Network tab in your developer tools and see that no request carries the names. The URL only contains them because you chose to copy or share it yourself.
