Quick Answer

Gem Swap is a match-3 puzzle: swap two adjacent gems to line up three or more of the same kind in a row or column — they clear, new gems fall in from above, and chains of automatic matches (cascades) multiply your score. Every move must create a match, the board detects when no moves remain, and your best score is saved locally. Free, no sign-up, runs entirely in your browser.

How It Works

1

Tap or drag to swap two adjacent gems

2

Line up three or more identical gems to clear them

3

Chain cascades as new gems fall into place

4

Keep matching until no moves remain

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play Gem Swap?

Tap (or drag) two neighboring gems to swap them. If the swap lines up three or more identical gems in a row or column they vanish and the gems above drop down. Swaps that do not create a match are not allowed — the gems just bounce back to place.

What are cascades and why do they matter?

When cleared gems fall, the new arrangement can automatically line up new matches — a cascade. Each cascade wave is worth a bigger multiplier, so setting up one swap that triggers two or three chains scores far more than separate small matches.

What is the best match-3 strategy?

Work low on the board first — matches near the bottom shift more gems and raise cascade odds. Look for shapes where one swap completes two lines at once (an L or T of matching gems), and scan for potential 4-in-a-rows since bigger clears are worth disproportionately more.

When does the game end?

The board ends when no legal swap exists anywhere — the game detects it instantly and shows your final score. Click New game for a fresh board; your best score is kept on your device.

Is my score saved?

Your best score is stored in your browser's localStorage and persists between sessions on the same device. Nothing is uploaded — the game has no account and no server.
