The converter automatically detects and applies DST rules for each timezone. When DST is active, the offset changes accordingly. The tool shows whether each timezone currently observes DST and indicates the current offset.
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary time standard used worldwide. It does not observe DST and serves as the reference point for all time zones. Time zones are expressed as offsets from UTC (e.g., EST is UTC-5, JST is UTC+9).
Use the Meeting Planner feature. Select all participants' time zones, and the tool will show which hours work for everyone (highlighted in green). Work hours are defined as 9 AM to 6 PM in each local time.
Some regions adopted half-hour offsets to better align their clock time with solar time. Examples include India (UTC+5:30), Nepal (UTC+5:45), and parts of Australia. The converter handles these correctly.
When converting time, the target timezone may be on a different calendar day than your source time. For example, 10 PM in New York on Monday is 8 AM Tuesday in Tokyo. The indicator helps avoid scheduling confusion.
The converter uses the JavaScript Intl API which provides accurate, up-to-date timezone data maintained by the IANA Time Zone Database. This includes current DST rules and historical changes.
