…Quick Answer
A Wordle solver takes the guesses you have already made, applies the green, yellow and gray tile feedback, and shows every 5-letter word that could still be the answer. Type each guess into this free solver, click a tile to cycle its color, and the candidate list shrinks instantly — ranked by letter frequency so the top suggestion is usually the word. It filters a full English dictionary of 5-letter words entirely in your browser, supports up to 8 guess rows, works for any Wordle variant that uses 5-letter words and standard tile colors, and never sends your puzzle anywhere.
How It Works
Type the guess you made in the puzzle into the solver row
Click each tile to cycle its color — gray, yellow, green — to match the puzzle

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Wordle solver work?
Every guess you enter becomes a set of constraints: green tiles fix a letter to a position, yellow tiles require the letter elsewhere but exclude that position, and gray tiles cap how often the letter can appear — which is exactly how Wordle treats repeated letters. The solver then filters a 5-letter English dictionary and ranks the survivors by positional letter frequency, promoting words that reveal the most new information.
What are the best starting words for Wordle?
Strong openers pack common letters in common positions — CRANE, SLATE, CRATE, TRACE and SALET are all statistically excellent because E, A, R, T, S and N dominate English words. Any opener is fine if your second guess cross-checks the letters the first one missed (for example, following CRATE with LOINS or POUNDS covers a different letter set).
Does the solver handle repeated letters?
Yes. If a letter shows up yellow twice, the answer must contain it at least twice; if a letter is gray after appearing elsewhere, that letter’s count is capped exactly at the number of green/yellow tiles it earned. That mirrors Wordle’s own coloring logic, so candidates like PIZZA or EERIE are handled correctly.
Can I use this for Wordle variants like Quordle or Hurdle?
Absolutely — any game with 5-letter words and green/yellow/gray (or green/yellow/blue) tiles follows the same rules. For Quordle, run one solver per board: enter the guesses you have made and that board’s colors, and each panel shows that board’s remaining candidates.
Is using a solver cheating?
That is entirely your call — it is a single-player puzzle. Most people use a solver in three ways: as a learning tool (watch which constraints eliminate which words), as a rescue when only one guess remains, or to settle streak-saving debates. There is no account here and nothing is reported anywhere, so your streak is between you and the puzzle.
Does the solver need my Wordle answer or any data from the game?
No — it only needs what you can see on your screen: the guesses and their tile colors. There is no connection to the New York Times, no reading of your game, and no submission of your data anywhere. The whole tool is a static page that runs in your browser.
